Michael Lazarus is currently Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at Yale University and Deakin University Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Alfred Deakin Institute. He holds a PhD from Monash University (2020) and studied at Sussex University.
His research is in political theory, political economy, moral philosophy and the history of political thought. Interests include: theories of capitalism, Marx and Marxism, Hegel and German Idealism, Critical Theory, Aristotle and neo-Aristotelianism and the political economy of work. In addition to his academic publications, he has written numerous articles for the general public.
He has taught at universities in Australia (Monash University and Australian Catholic University) and lectured in North America (including Columbia University and St. Francis Xavier University). He is the recipient of prizes from the Australian Academy of Humanities, including the Humanities Travelling Fellowship (2024), with which he conducted archival research on the writings of Hannah Arendt.
